RSC Anderlecht are reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation regarding Chancel Mbemba (31), according to Sacha Tavolieri.

Set to become a free agent next June, a year after joining LOSC Lille, the Congolese international defender (104 caps, seven goals) is viewed by the Mauves’ management as a potential signing for next season. So much so that the Belgian club are said to have already initiated talks with his entourage.

Although Mbemba is not expected to decide on his next club before the World Cup, in which he will be playing for the Democratic Republic of Congo, his attachment to Belgium – where part of his family lives – and the interest shown by the club that launched his European career could well tip the balance.

Having started 16 of his 21 appearances for Les Dogues this season, the 31-year-old could thus once again don the colours of Anderlecht, for whom he made 77 appearances between 2013 and 2015.
