Amad Diallo has made no secret of his hopes that Michael Carrick stays on as Manchester United's head coach next season—and he's not alone in feeling that way.
The United winger, who has been a key figure in the squad's resurgence, revealed that the team's bond has never been stronger under Carrick's leadership. "The biggest change is that the team is more impactful now," Diallo explained. "In the dressing room, we are really together. Every mistake is not a problem—your mistake is my mistake. We don't care if you make a mistake, you go again. We want to win as a team."
Carrick, 44, took over as interim manager after Ruben Amorim's departure in January, and the results have been nothing short of remarkable. With three games still to play, he has already guided United back into the Champions League—a feat that seemed unlikely just months ago.
The former midfielder has won over the dressing room with his calm, supportive approach. Diallo highlighted how Carrick goes beyond tactics, offering personal encouragement during tough moments. "Even when you are in tough moments, he's there to talk to you, he's there to help you," the Ivory Coast international said. "Everyone is happy to have him as manager. He has a good relationship with every player."
That sentiment echoes across the squad. After United's thrilling 3-2 victory over arch-rivals Liverpool, teammate Kobbie Mainoo declared that players "want to die for" Carrick. Matheus Cunha and the departing Casemiro have also publicly backed him for the permanent role.
Diallo, who previously called Carrick the "right man" a month ago, is keeping his focus on the pitch—even if his personal stats haven't reflected the team's upturn. "Honestly, it's not the player who decides who is going to stay," he said. "But what I can say is we will be happy if we have him next season as manager."
With the squad united behind him and Champions League football secured, Carrick has made an undeniable case to shed the "interim" tag. For United fans and players alike, the future looks bright under his steady hand.
