All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is making waves this offseason with a surprising admission: he wants to play with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. The 33-year-old pass-catcher, known for his spectacular one-handed grabs and route-running prowess, is entering the twilight of his Hall of Fame-caliber career—and he's still chasing that elusive Super Bowl ring.
Hopkins has suited up for three different teams over the past two seasons, but his latest comments suggest he has a clear preference for where he'd like to land next. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Hopkins was asked which quarterback he hasn't yet played with that he'd most want to catch passes from. His answer was immediate and emphatic.
"I gotta go with Joe Burrow," Hopkins said. "I think Joe is one of the best. I love his game, his toughness. He took his team to a Super Bowl early in his career, and I feel like he can get back there with a little bit of help."
It's a bold statement from a receiver who has shared the field with some of the game's greats, including Deshaun Watson, Kyler Murray, and Ryan Tannehill. But the question remains: would the Bengals actually be a good fit?
On paper, Cincinnati's receiving corps is already loaded. Ja'Marr Chase is a perennial All-Pro, Tee Higgins is a proven No. 2, and Andrei Iosivas showed flashes of promise last season. Adding Hopkins would likely push him to a third or even fourth option—a role he hasn't played since his early days with the Houston Texans. At this stage in his career, a move to Cincinnati would almost certainly come on a veteran minimum contract, with limited snaps and situational usage.
Still, the idea of Hopkins lining up opposite Chase and Higgins is enough to make any Bengals fan dream. Could Burrow use "a little bit of help" to get back to the Super Bowl? The chemistry between a savvy veteran like Hopkins and a precision passer like Burrow would be must-watch football. Whether the Bengals pull the trigger remains to be seen, but the thought alone is enough to get fans talking.
