The stage is officially set for UFC Winnipeg! In a smooth weigh-in session, all fighters successfully hit their marks, clearing the final hurdle before Saturday's action at the Canada Life Centre. The event is headlined by a pivotal welterweight clash, where Canada's own Mike Malott looks to make a statement against the seasoned former title challenger, Gilbert Burns. Both main event warriors utilized the one-pound allowance, coming in at a ready 171 pounds.

While Malott required the privacy screen to make weight, he remained upbeat, attributing it to a minor scale discrepancy. "I'm not hurting. My scale was a bit wonky, and I was a bit heavier than expected," he noted. The focus now shifts entirely to the octagon, where he aims to leverage hometown support against Burns's elite experience.

The co-main event also proceeded flawlessly. Bantamweight contenders Kyler Phillips and Charles Jourdain are locked in, with Phillips hitting the championship mark of 135 pounds and Jourdain weighing in at 136 pounds using the allowance. This sets up a high-stakes battle with major implications for the 135-pound division.

Across the entire card, discipline prevailed. All 20 other fighters made weight, with only one minor adjustment: the bantamweight bout between Mark Vologdin and John Castaneda was shifted to a 139-pound catchweight contest. Vologdin weighed 138.5 pounds, while Castaneda came in right at the new limit of 139 pounds. This ensures the fight proceeds without penalty, keeping the exciting prelim lineup intact.

With the formalities complete, the fighters can now focus on final preparations. UFC Winnipeg promises a night of high-level MMA, featuring a mix of rising local talent and established global stars, all ready to perform under the bright lights.
