Alexa Spallina has officially arrived on the national stage. The Clemson lacrosse freshman sensation was named the ACC Freshman Player of the Year, bringing one of the conference's most prestigious individual honors back to the Tigers' program.

Starting all 19 games for Clemson, the Mount Sinai, New York native wasted no time making her mark. Spallina posted a staggering stat line of 37 goals, 67 assists, and 104 total points — numbers that would be impressive for any player, let alone a first-year athlete competing in the talent-rich ACC. She wasn't just a scorer or a passer; she was the engine of the Tigers' offense. With the ball in her stick, she could create her own shot, draw defenders, and find open teammates when the defense collapsed.

Her versatility was on full display throughout the season. She erupted for six goals against Furman, dished out 10 assists against Davidson, and opened her college career with a seven-point performance against Vanderbilt. She also recorded seven assists against California and delivered big games against Virginia Tech, Wofford, Mercer, and Duke.

Spallina arrived at Clemson with sky-high expectations. She was Inside Lacrosse's No. 1 ranked recruit, a three-time USA Lacrosse All-American, a two-time All-Long Island selection, and the MVP of the New Balance All-American Tournament. She also became just the second No. 1 ranked recruit to sign with Clemson Athletics, joining former football star Trevor Lawrence — a testament to the Tigers' growing recruiting power.

This award signals more than just a standout freshman season. Clemson's lacrosse program is still young compared to ACC powerhouses, but landing a player like Spallina and watching her dominate immediately changes the trajectory of the entire program. For the Tigers, this is a statement: they're building something special.
