The Texas high school softball playoffs are heating up, and two local powerhouses are still standing strong after an electrifying regional semifinal round. Aledo and Brock punched their tickets to the next stage with dominant performances that showcased both star power and team depth.

For Aledo, it was the Breleigh Mayer show. The Ladycats' slugger had a career series against Monterey, driving in six RBIs and crushing three home runs in a two-game sweep. Aledo's offense was relentless, scoring in every inning of Friday's run-rule victory, including a seven-run explosion in the third. Rylee Marx also went deep as part of a 17-run, nine-hit outburst. On the mound, Tempe Perry did her part, going 2-for-5 at the plate with three RBIs while tossing five innings, allowing just one earned run. Monterey's struggles were summed up by a stat line that saw more errors (4) than hits (3). The Ladycats now set their sights on Abilene in the 5A Division I regional finals.

Over in the 4A ranks, Brock matched Aledo's intensity with a 16-run, 10-hit performance in game two against Canyon. After jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, the Lady Eagles put the game out of reach with a 12-run fourth inning. What makes the outburst even more impressive? Not a single extra-base hit. Brock did all its damage through smart, patient at-bats—eight singles and six walks or hit-by-pitches. The Lady Eagles will now face Randall in the regional final round, bringing that same disciplined approach.

Not every story ended in celebration. Mineral Wells saw its impressive season come to a close against Dumas. After taking a 4-0 lead into the final inning, the Demonettes surrendered 10 runs in a stunning rally. Dumas finished with 15 hits and 14 runs, while Jadyn Horton, Carsyn Presley, and Kynlee Harkins accounted for the only Lady Rams hits. Springtown also fell, undone by seven errors that led to a 7-0 first-inning deficit. Kaylee Falcon's solo home run in the fifth was the lone bright spot in a five-hit effort.

As the playoffs push forward, Aledo and Brock carry the banner for their communities, proving that a mix of power, patience, and resilience is the formula for success in Texas softball.
