Alec Bohm homered twice, doubled and drove in four runs in his return from a two-game benching, Kyle Schwarber hit a three-run homer and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Colorado Rockies 9-3 on Saturday night. Trea Turner had four hits for the Phillies, who improved to 9-3 under interim manager Don Mattingly. The Phillies fell behind on Willi Castro's second-inning homer off Aaron Nola, but they broke out in the third against Kyle Freeland (1-4).

Alec Bohm made a statement in his return to the lineup, snapping out of a rough slump with two home runs, a double, and four RBIs to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 9-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night.

After being benched for two games, Bohm came back with a vengeance. He hadn't played since Wednesday and entered the game with a meager .159 batting average, but he quickly turned things around. In the third inning, with the Phillies trailing 1-0 after Willi Castro's solo homer off Aaron Nola, Bohm launched a solo shot to left field to tie the game. That sparked a rally—Bryson Stott and Trea Turner followed with singles, and then Kyle Schwarber crushed a three-run homer to the upper deck in right field, his National League-leading 14th of the season.

The Rockies fought back in the fourth inning. Nola thought he had struck out Jake McCarthy, but an ABS challenge overturned the call, and Kyle Karros doubled home two runs to cut the Phillies' lead to 5-3. But Bohm wasn't done. He homered again in the bottom of the fourth and added a two-run double in the eighth, raising his average to .177.

Trea Turner was a force at the plate with four hits, helping the Phillies improve to 9-3 under interim manager Don Mattingly. Nola was pulled after 4 2/3 innings and 94 pitches, but the Phillies' bullpen shut the door, not allowing a hit the rest of the way. Tim Mayza earned the win after recording the final out of the fifth inning.

Rockies starter Kyle Freeland struggled, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits over five innings. Meanwhile, Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper was pulled for a pinch-hitter in the first inning due to a migraine.

The series wraps up on Sunday with the rubber game. The Rockies will send right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano (3-2, 3.41 ERA) to the mound, while the Phillies counter with Cristopher Sanchez (3-2, 2.42 ERA).
