Former Ipswich Town and Scotland striker Alan Brazil has shared that a recent operation saved his life, expressing deep gratitude to the medical team who cared for him. The 66-year-old, known for his role as a TalkSPORT breakfast show host, has been absent from the airwaves since March.
Brazil, who made over 150 league appearances for Ipswich Town before stints at Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, posted on social media: "I recently had a life-saving operation and I'm deeply grateful to the brilliant medical team who have looked after me. It will be some time yet before I'm fully back to myself and for now I am focused on my recovery in private. Thank you to my family and those close to me who've been supporting me and putting up with me."
While Brazil did not disclose details of the surgery or his condition, the announcement has sparked an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues. Hundreds of well-wishes flooded in after his Monday morning post, reflecting the high regard for the football legend who has hosted TalkSPORT's breakfast show for over 25 years.
TalkSPORT released a statement saying: "Everyone at TalkSPORT wishes Alan all the best in his recovery." As Brazil focuses on getting back to full health, the sports world is rallying behind him, sending strength and positive vibes his way.
