After a season that can only be described as a remarkable resurgence, Alabama softball has secured the No. 1 overall seed in the 2025 NCAA Tournament. Despite a tough loss to Texas in the SEC semifinals, Patrick Murphy's squad has proven they are a force to be reckoned with—and now, they have their sights set on a championship.
The Crimson Tide will host the Tuscaloosa Regional, a double-elimination tournament running from May 15-17. If they advance, they'll also host a super regional, giving them a significant home-field advantage on their path to the Women's College World Series.
The Tuscaloosa Regional field is stacked with talent: Alabama will face USC Upstate (36-21), while Belmont (40-11) takes on Southeastern Louisiana (46-14). Alabama opens against USC Upstate on Friday, May 15, at noon CT, followed by Belmont vs. SE Louisiana at 2:30 p.m. CT. The winners and losers' bracket games continue Saturday, with the regional final set for Sunday—and an if-necessary Game 7 if things get tight.
Alabama's regional is paired with the Baton Rouge Regional, led by No. 16 overall seed LSU. That bracket also features Virginia Tech (46-10), South Alabama (32-25), and Akron (34-23). If Alabama wins their regional, they'll face the Baton Rouge champion in a super regional series from May 22-24.
For this Crimson Tide squad, it's WCWS or bust. With their depth, resilience, and home-field energy, they have a real shot at bringing home the title—if they bring their A game. Fans, get ready: this is going to be a thrilling ride.
