Alabama has reportedly cancelled an upcoming series with a Big 12 program, while also keeping one of college football's top teams on the schedule.

In a move that reshapes Alabama's future nonconference schedule, the Crimson Tide have reportedly canceled an upcoming home-and-home series with Oklahoma State, while keeping a marquee matchup with Ohio State firmly in place.

According to On3's Brett McMurphy, Alabama and the Big 12's Cowboys mutually agreed to scrap their two-game series originally slated for the 2028 and 2029 seasons. The first matchup was set to take place in Stillwater, with the return game in Tuscaloosa the following year. Both universities confirmed the decision was mutual, allowing each program to adjust their schedules as the evolving college football landscape demands.

While the Oklahoma State cancellation is notable, Alabama fans can still look forward to a blockbuster clash with Ohio State. The Buckeyes and Crimson Tide are still scheduled to meet in Columbus during the 2027 season, with the rematch in Tuscaloosa in 2028. Additionally, Alabama has a high-profile series with Notre Dame set for the 2029-30 seasons, ensuring the team's nonconference slate remains packed with heavyweight opponents.

With the Oklahoma State series off the table, Alabama's 2028 nonconference schedule now features three home games: Ohio State, Georgia State, and UT Martin. For 2029, the lone nonconference road trip will be to South Bend to face the Fighting Irish. The shift comes as the SEC prepares to move to a nine-game conference schedule starting this upcoming season, making nonconference flexibility more critical than ever.

For fans looking to gear up for these future showdowns, this is a reminder that college football's scheduling chess game is always in motion—and Alabama is keeping its sights set on the biggest stages.
