The 14-year-old who attends Macatawa Bay is already making a name for himself in the ring.

At just 14 years old, Ricardo Emiliano is already making waves in the boxing world—and he's letting his fists do all the talking. The Holland teen, who attends Macatawa Bay Middle School, recently captured a Junior Olympics title, and his future in the ring is looking brighter than ever.

"Junior Olympics was a really good experience," Emiliano says. "I just want to keep going and win more tournaments."

That quiet confidence is exactly what caught the eye of his coach, Ruben Silvas of Westside Boxing Club. "When he came back this year, I saw the fire lit. He got serious," Silvas recalls. "He has a style and always looks good in the ring. A lot of kids already look up to him, and he's bringing in a younger crowd."

Competing in the 108-110 pound weight class, Emiliano relies heavily on his speed—a weapon that gives him a distinct edge. "Speed is definitely my biggest strength," he explains. "It takes opponents longer to react. I'm working on my stamina and have improved my head movement."

Now, Emiliano is poised for a hometown debut. On May 16, he'll step into the ring at the Holland Civic Center, marking his first fight in front of a local crowd. He'll be joined by a talented lineup of fellow Holland boxers, including professional fighters Allen Torres and Anthony Torres, as well as amateurs Elroy Payne, EJ Trevino, and Marcos Guzman—the latter having clinched the state Golden Gloves title earlier this year.

"It's pretty cool that we can have a fight in town and not have to travel," Emiliano says.

For a young athlete with a Junior Olympic championship already under his belt and a growing fan base, this hometown fight is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey.
