The Los Angeles Angels finally found their groove north of the border, snapping an eight-game road losing streak with a commanding 6-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday to avoid a series sweep.

Jo Adell was the star of the show, launching a pair of solo home runs to power the Angels' offense. The first came in the sixth inning, and he added an exclamation point with another in the ninth—both off Blue Jays starter Eric Lauer. Oswald Peraza also got in on the long-ball action, crushing a two-run homer in the fifth inning that gave the Angels all the cushion they needed.

On the mound, José Soriano was in control after a shaky first inning. He allowed an RBI double to Kazuma Okamoto in the opening frame but then locked in, retiring 20 consecutive batters before Myles Straw broke the streak with an infield single in the eighth. Soriano (6-2) finished with seven strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings, ending a personal three-start winless stretch. Sam Bachman came on in relief with the bases loaded and got Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to ground into a forceout to preserve the lead.

For the Blue Jays, it was a tough day at the plate and on the injury front. Right fielder Addison Barger was a late scratch due to a sore right shoulder, just one day after making a 101.2 mph throw to cut down a runner at home plate. Barger had only recently returned from a 29-game absence due to a left ankle injury.

Eric Lauer (1-5) took the loss for Toronto, surrendering six runs on five hits over five innings. He hasn't earned a win since March 29 against the Athletics.

The Angels will look to build on this momentum as they return home to face the Cleveland Guardians on Monday, with left-hander Joey Cantilo (2-1, 3.43 ERA) taking the mound. The Blue Jays, meanwhile, head to Tampa Bay for a series opener against the Rays, sending right-hander Kevin Gausman (2-2, 3.09 ERA) to face Rays righty Drew Rasmussen (2-1, 2.95).
