This week's high school sports scene in Iowa was dominated by two phenomenal performances, earning Abby Chambers and Kaiden Kunze well-deserved recognition as the Des Moines Register's Athletes of the Week.
On the soccer pitch, Bondurant-Farrar's Abby Chambers delivered a performance for the ages. In a commanding 10-0 victory over Carroll, Chambers was simply unstoppable, netting an incredible six goals. Her offensive explosion didn't stop there; she also fired off 20 shots on goal and dished out three assists, showcasing a complete and dominant attacking display that captured 64% of the female Athlete of the Week vote.
Over on the track, Norwalk's Kaiden Kunze made a massive statement in the long jump pit. On his third attempt, Kunze soared 24 feet, five inches, a mark that currently leads all Class 4A boys in Iowa this season. His winning leap edged out defending state champion Miciah LeLaCheur by 3.25 inches, a clutch performance that secured him the male Athlete of the Week honor with 55% of the vote.
Congratulations to both Abby and Kaiden on these outstanding achievements that highlight the incredible talent and dedication within Iowa high school athletics.
