A record crowd of 3,290 at McKellar Park witnessed Victory take an early lead when Rachel Lowe pounced on a rebound after Sally James denied Rhianna Pollicina. Just three minutes later, Ella O’Grady doubled the advantage, sliding home at the back post to convert Pollicina’s cross.
Canberra fought back through Sasha Grove, who capitalized on a Victory corner, winning the ball in midfield and racing in on goal to slide past Courtney Newbon with under 30 minutes gone. The hosts nearly equalized five minutes later, but Emma Hawkins headed Michelle Heyman’s cross over the bar with the goal gaping.
Victory sealed the deal five minutes into the second half when O’Grady struck again. A giveaway in Canberra’s half allowed Holly Furphy to deliver a perfect cross, and O’Grady headed home to make it 3-1. In the other elimination final, Brisbane Roar powered past Adelaide United with a dominant second-half display. Matildas’ shot-stopper Chloe Lincoln made an early diving save to deny Erin Healy’s header, but Brisbane gradually took control. Kijah Stephenson’s shot was saved by the foot of Ilona Melegh before she finally broke the deadlock in the 50th minute, finishing off a perfect through ball from Alicia Woods.
