Led by youngster A.J. Ewing, the Mets' offense busted out as they defeated the Tigers on Tuesday night at Citi Field.

On a crisp Tuesday night at Citi Field, the New York Mets reminded everyone just how explosive their offense can be, rolling past the Detroit Tigers with a commanding 10-2 victory. After a frustrating final three games in Arizona where the bats went quiet, the Mets came out swinging and never looked back.

The early innings set the tone. New York wasted no time getting to Tigers starter Jack Flaherty, tagging him for runs in the second, third, and fourth innings. Flaherty, who has been struggling this season, was chased from the game after just 3.2 innings. But the Mets weren't done there—they poured it on in the sixth, seventh, and eighth, capitalizing on some sloppy Detroit defense to put the game well out of reach.

All eyes were on rookie A.J. Ewing, and the young phenom did not disappoint. In his highly anticipated debut, Ewing reached base three times in four plate appearances, drawing three walks—including a bases-loaded free pass—stealing a base, and scoring twice. His biggest highlight came when he ripped a triple at 104.1 mph to right field, driving in a run and showing off his blazing speed by going home-to-third in just 11.64 seconds. If there were any doubts about whether the Mets rushed him to the big leagues, Ewing answered them emphatically.

Ewing wasn't the only youngster making noise. Carson Benge, moved back to the leadoff spot, continued his torrid stretch at the plate, collecting two more hits. The sweet-swinging lefty drove in a run with an opposite-field single in the third inning, proving he's more than comfortable in the spotlight.

Francisco Alvarez also contributed, reaching base twice with a run-scoring fielder's choice and a double. However, the game took a concerning turn when the catcher appeared to twist his knee on a swing attempt in the sixth inning and had to leave the game. Luis Torrens took over behind the plate, and Alvarez is scheduled for imaging on Wednesday—a development the Mets will be watching closely.

Veterans Bo Bichette and Juan Soto also got in on the action. Bichette reached base three times, bouncing back nicely after a hitless series in Arizona, while Soto added two hits of his own. On the mound, Freddy Peralta had an up-and-down outing but did enough to keep the Tigers at bay, limiting the damage and giving his offense all the support it needed.

From the debut of a promising rookie to a breakout offensive performance, this was a night that had Mets fans dreaming of what this lineup can do when it all clicks. And for a team looking to make a statement, Tuesday's win was a perfect start to the series.
