Tottenham's 2-1 win at Aston Villa moved them out of the Premier League relegation zone - but who are now the favourites to go down?

Tottenham Hotspur pulled off a massive result on Sunday night, climbing out of the Premier League relegation zone with a gritty 2-1 win at Aston Villa. The victory not only marked back-to-back wins for the first time since early in the season but also breathed new life into a campaign that had looked all but lost. With just three weeks left in the 2025-26 season, the battle to avoid the final relegation spot is shaping up to be a thriller.

Wolves and Burnley have already been booked for the Championship, but one more team will join them. West Ham's 3-0 drubbing by Brentford on Saturday cracked the door open, and Roberto de Zerbi's Spurs charged through. Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards was full of praise on BBC's Match of the Day: "That's a huge result for Spurs. I didn't see that coming. Villa were poor, but from the start, Spurs made the most of it with their desire and intensity. They were brave in how they set up, and every time we make a prediction, we get it wrong—but West Ham have it all to do now."

Alan Shearer, the former England striker, echoed the sentiment: "They won every tackle, every second ball, and took the risk out of their game by not always playing from the back. When you're in desperate trouble, you need every player at it, and Spurs had that. It's been a terrible weekend for West Ham."

The table now paints a tense picture. Nottingham Forest sit 16th, having played one game fewer than both Spurs and West Ham. A win against Chelsea on Monday could push them six points clear of the drop zone. Leeds are 14th with 43 points, and Crystal Palace are just below on goal difference but with a game in hand. That leaves three teams—Forest, West Ham, and Spurs—locked in a nail-biting scrap for survival.

De Zerbi, however, kept his feet on the ground. "The season is not finished yet—we cannot be happy," he said after the match. With momentum on their side, Spurs have set a new standard. Now, it's all about who blinks first in this high-stakes finale.
