A'ja Wilson had a historic night, putting on an offensive display while scoring from nearly everywhere on the court. The four-time WNBA MVP scored 45 points to help the Las Vegas Aces beat the Connecticut Sun 101-94 on Friday night. Wilson was an incredibly efficient 15 for 18 from the field, hitting both of her 3-point attempts.

A'ja Wilson delivered a performance for the ages Friday night, etching her name deeper into WNBA history with a dazzling 45-point masterpiece that powered the Las Vegas Aces to a 101-94 victory over the Connecticut Sun. The four-time MVP was nothing short of surgical, shooting an astonishing 15-of-18 from the field, including a perfect 2-of-2 from beyond the arc, while also knocking down all 13 of her free throws.

This was efficiency at its finest—Wilson's fifth career game with 40 or more points, breaking a tie with legends Breanna Stewart and Diana Taurasi for the most in WNBA history. Her career-high remains 53 points, set back in August 2023 against Atlanta, but this performance was a masterclass in controlled dominance.

"Finding shots in our system and letting the flow of the game take over—that's big to me," Wilson said. "I want to be efficient. It's beautiful to rack up all these points, but to be efficient, that's what is key."

The game had extra star power in the stands, with Wilson's boyfriend, Miami Heat standout Bam Adebayo, watching from courtside. It was a fitting return of support, as Wilson had attended his historic 83-point outburst in March. The energy was palpable, and Wilson fed off it.

Aces coach Becky Hammon couldn't hide her admiration. "She was unbelievable. Really happy with the free throws. The 3s, she just continued to sprinkle those in. She got a lot of early touches."

The Sun made a charge, cutting a 13-point deficit to just 72-70 late in the third quarter. But Wilson responded like the superstar she is—hitting a 3-pointer out of a timeout, then converting a three-point play to ignite a decisive 16-4 run that sealed the game. "It wasn't really designed to be like that," Wilson said with a shrug. "I was just taking what the defense was giving me."

This game also carried a touch of nostalgia. Wilson has created countless memories at Mohegan Sun Arena, including her first WNBA point and a championship. With the Sun set to relocate to Houston next season, this may have been her final bow on that court. "This building has been special to me for a while," she reflected. "Going to miss this place."

Teammate Chelsea Gray, who has had a front-row seat to Wilson's brilliance for five seasons, summed it up best: "You can't get bored with watching greatness." For fans of the game—and of the Aces—nights like this are exactly why we tune in.
