João Pedro has been one of the few bright spots in Chelsea's recent transfer business, and according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, letting him leave Stamford Bridge would send entirely the wrong message about the club's direction.

The Brazilian striker, who arrived from Brighton last summer in a deal worth up to £60m, has been nothing short of a revelation in his debut campaign. With 20 goals across all competitions—including 15 in the Premier League—Pedro has firmly made the number nine position his own, leaving competition like Liam Delap with little room to challenge.

Here's the remarkable part: Pedro still has a chance to become the first Chelsea striker to net 20 league goals in a season since Diego Costa. He'd need five in the final three games, but after the season he's had, nothing seems impossible.

That kind of form naturally attracts attention. Barcelona have been linked with a move, and former Blaugrana scout Bojan Krkić senior has publicly stated Pedro would be a perfect fit for their system. But Romano has poured cold water on any exit speculation.

"João Pedro is a player appreciated at Barcelona," Romano confirmed on his YouTube channel. "But for Chelsea, he's a crucial player and part of the project. They count on him, and it would send a bad message if he went."

For a club that has spent heavily and struggled for consistency, keeping hold of a proven goalscorer who's still only 24 isn't just smart business—it's a statement of intent. Pedro represents the kind of signing that actually worked, and letting him slip away would undermine everything Chelsea are trying to build.

As for other rumours, Romano also dismissed suggestions that Chelsea have reached out to former Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez, despite reports linking the Spaniard with the vacant manager's position. The search for Liam Rosenior's permanent successor continues, but one thing seems clear: João Pedro isn't going anywhere.
