Former Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips has delivered a blunt message to Blues striker Joao Pedro: leave Stamford Bridge for Barcelona. The ex-England international didn't hold back, urging the Brazilian to seize an opportunity with the La Liga giants if it arises.

Joao Pedro, who joined Chelsea from Brighton last summer, has impressed in his debut season with a string of strong performances. That form has caught the eye of Barcelona, and Wright-Phillips believes the timing is right for a move.

"I believe it would be fantastic for Joao if he were to go," Wright-Phillips said, as reported by the Evening Standard. "Personally, given the way Chelsea has been run, if I were him, I would do everything to complete this transfer. If I were Joao Pedro, I would want to play in the Champions League, and I can't see Chelsea qualifying for any European competition. Joao has the level and deserves to be playing in the Champions League."

It's never easy hearing former players urge your stars to walk out the door, but Wright-Phillips has a point. Chelsea's current setup has been described as a "car crash," and with the club languishing in mid-table, European football looks like a distant dream. For a striker of Joao Pedro's caliber, the allure of Barcelona—and Champions League nights—is hard to ignore.

Whether the Blues can hold onto their rising star remains to be seen, but the message from the stands—and the legends—is clear: the grass might be greener elsewhere.
