Joe Cole was a pundit for TNT Sports last night, watching Chelsea take on Leeds in the FA Cup semi final. The former Blue picked out a starter who had made a real difference for his old team last night:

“[Joao Pedro] plays with that flair, I loved him today he was dropping off in the pockets. He did his centre forward job, he held up the play and when he got into good positions he was picking the right passes.”

While the TNT coverage had goalscorer Enzo Fernandez as Man of the Match and many others praised our defence too, we definitely had Joao Pedro as the outstanding player in the game. Chelsea decided to play the ball long a long, over the top of Leeds’ press, and it was essential the striker was able to hold the ball up.

He consistently won those battles and allowed his team to get higher up the pitch.

Robert Sanchez was picked out for praise for his performance in the game by pundits and by his manager Calum McFarlane.

McFarlane’s tactical breakdown for the game was really fascinating, and he explained to TNT Sport how he countered the Leeds press.
