Joe Gomez has sparked speculation about his Liverpool future after delivering an honest admission that even he doesn't know what lies ahead. The Reds' longest-serving current player, who has been at Anfield for 11 years, admits he's uncertain whether he'll still be wearing the famous red shirt next season.

Last summer, the 28-year-old defender appeared destined for the exit door, with Brighton, Crystal Palace, and AC Milan all expressing interest. Now, with just over a year left on his contract, that possibility looms large once again. "I think anything can happen. I don't know is the honest answer," Gomez confessed to the Liverpool Echo. "Whatever's meant to be will be, but I'm so grateful to have had this time here at this club."

This season has been a mixed bag for the versatile defender. While he's made 31 appearances across all competitions, only 10 of those have been starts in the Premier League or Champions League. Minor injuries have also interrupted his rhythm, but his value to the squad extends far beyond the starting lineup.

Gomez's uncertainty comes at a critical time for Liverpool, who are facing a potential exodus of experienced leaders. Mo Salah and Andy Robertson are set to depart this month, Alisson Becker has been linked with a summer move, and Virgil van Dijk has just one year remaining on his contract. As one of the few remaining pillars of the dressing room, Gomez's presence could be crucial in maintaining stability during this transitional period.

For now, the defender is taking a philosophical approach: "All I can do is be thankful and we'll see." Whether that means a summer farewell or a renewed commitment, Liverpool fans will be watching closely as the transfer window approaches.
