Alan Shearer has delivered a stark prediction for Saturday's Premier League clash at Anfield, backing Liverpool to hand Chelsea a seventh consecutive league defeat. The Premier League legend's verdict comes as the Blues spiral into one of their worst runs in recent memory.

For Liverpool, this match carries massive stakes. A win in the lunchtime kick-off could clinch Champions League qualification—provided Bournemouth later fail to beat Fulham away. After last weekend's disappointing loss to Manchester United, Arne Slot's side will be desperate to bounce back and secure their spot among Europe's elite.

Both teams will be missing key players due to injuries, but the form book heavily favors the hosts. Liverpool will be eager to avenge their earlier defeat at Stamford Bridge this season, and Shearer believes the Reds have every reason to be confident.

"It's a big opportunity for Liverpool here," Shearer wrote in his Metro predictions column. "Chelsea look a mess, don't they? I don't know how many times I've said it, but whatever happens at the top of the club always filters down onto the pitch, and that's exactly what's happening now."

The former Newcastle striker didn't hold back in his assessment of Chelsea's current state. "Having watched Chelsea v Forest the other night, Chelsea were shocking. They were abysmal and there has to be a massive improvement from that, because you can't just turn it on and off. You can't just turn up and think, 'Oh, we'll get through to the FA Cup Final and see what happens.'"

Shearer's analysis paints a grim picture for Chelsea's European ambitions. "They're really struggling now for European football next season, let alone Champions League football. I just don't know what to expect from Chelsea."

With the Blues looking to their FA Cup final as a potential lifeline, Saturday's test at Anfield could define the trajectory of both clubs' seasons. For Liverpool, it's about seizing the moment; for Chelsea, it's about survival in a campaign that's quickly unraveling.
