When Chelsea takes on Leicester City this Sunday at The King Power Stadium, head coach Sonia Bompastor isn't taking anything for granted. Despite the Foxes' recent struggles, Bompastor is preaching respect and focus ahead of this Barclays Women's Super League clash.

Leicester currently sit at the bottom of the table and are destined for the relegation play-off after a heavy 7-0 defeat to Arsenal. But for Bompastor, that doesn't make Sunday's match any less dangerous. "I watched the game yesterday and it's tough for them right now," she said in her pre-match press conference. "Their dynamic in terms of results is not great. They lost the game and they now know they will play the play-off game, so in terms of confidence, it's probably not the best."

However, the Chelsea boss made it clear her side's focus remains squarely on their own performance. "Despite all of that, we have to focus on ourselves. We want to win every game until the end of the season and this one is no different. It's important for us to win, that's part of our mentality and our DNA."

Bompastor knows better than to underestimate any opponent. "In football, you never have an easy game. You've got to go into it with the right mentality to make sure you put up a good performance. Every team in this league is difficult to play against, and I am not expecting anything different on Sunday."

On the defensive side, Chelsea have managed just one clean sheet in their last seven outings. Bompastor offered an honest assessment of what's been going wrong. "If you look at most of the goals we have conceded this season, most of them have come from transition. We are a team that want to have the ball, we want to be dominant. When we have the ball, we are really open, and sometimes teams hurt us in transition."

She also pointed to the quality of opposition finishing, particularly when reviewing last weekend's goal conceded. "When we watched the goal back, I said to the team that we reacted in exactly the right way. We just need to give credit to the opposition."

With potentially four games left in the season, Chelsea are looking to rediscover the ruthless consistency that has made them a dominant force in the WSL. For Bompastor, it all starts with the right mindset—and that means treating every game, even against a struggling Leicester side, with the same intensity and respect.
