Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has insisted the Gunners are fully confident of making history by reaching the Champions League final for just the second time in the club's storied history.

Mikel Arteta's side battled to a hard-fought 1-1 draw away to Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their semi-final tie. The result puts Arsenal in the driver's seat heading into next week's decisive second leg at the Emirates Stadium, where the North London faithful will be roaring them on.

"Yes, of course I'm confident," Martinelli said when asked if he believed Arsenal could book their place in the final. "We play for Arsenal. We know how big this club is, and we trust in ourselves completely."

The Brazilian winger acknowledged the challenge posed by Diego Simeone's notoriously resilient side, describing the match as a true battle. "We knew it was going to be a big one, a battle over there. It was a really hard game—they've got a really good side," he explained.

"Of course, we wanted to come here and win the game, but we'll take the draw, playing away from home in the Champions League semi-final. We have a big one next week at our place, so we're going for it."

Martinelli was also honest about areas for improvement, noting, "We could have done things better, but it's the semi-final of the Champions League. The opponent is going to be really good as well. We take the draw, we go to London, and we want to win the game to go to the final."

With Arsenal still fighting on two fronts, the squad's focus now shifts quickly back to Premier League action. The Gunners host Fulham on Saturday in a crucial title clash, with a chance to stretch their lead over Manchester City to six points—though City have games in hand.

"We go to London now to recover," Martinelli added. "We have a big one on Saturday as well. So we prepare for that game, and then we think again about Atletico."
