Liverpool are setting their sights on another dazzling young winger from FC Porto, and the comparisons to Luis Diaz are already flying.
Back in January 2022, the Reds made a shrewd move to sign the Colombian dynamo for an initial £37.5 million. Kopites quickly fell in love with his relentless energy and flair, which helped power Liverpool to a Premier League title triumph last season. Now, the club's scouts are reportedly tracking a teenager who could be the next gem from the Portuguese giants.
According to Portuguese outlet Record, Liverpool are lining up a move for 17-year-old Oskar Pietuszewski. The Polish winger has been turning heads since joining Porto from Jagiellonia Bialystok earlier this year. While he doesn't turn 18 until later this month, he's already racked up an impressive 70 senior appearances, scoring three goals in his first 14 league games for the club.
The parallels to Diaz don't stop at the Porto connection. Pietuszewski, who primarily operates on the left wing, has been described as "the crown jewel of Polish youth football" by tactical analysts at Driblab. His dribbling is a standout weapon—he routinely draws free kicks with his tricky runs, and he's already caught the eye of Poland legend Robert Lewandowski, who called him "undoubtedly spectacular" in an interview with GOAL.
There's a catch, though. Pietuszewski currently has a €60 million (£51.9 million) release clause in his contract, which runs until 2029. Porto's hierarchy are already planning to bump that figure up and extend his deal by two years, knowing that "major European clubs" are keeping a close watch. For Liverpool, this could mean acting fast if they want to replicate the success of their Diaz swoop—before the price tag climbs even higher.
