Arne Slot has been issued a stark warning about a troubling statistic that he simply "cannot ignore" – Liverpool's alarming away form this season.

The Reds suffered another painful defeat on the road Sunday, falling 3-2 to Manchester United at Old Trafford. This loss extends their dismal record of failing to win away against any team currently in the Premier League's top half. For a club with title ambitions, it's a worrying pattern that's hard to overlook.

After a shaky first half that saw Roy Keane savage their performance as "like a bad five-a-side team," Liverpool showed brief promise. Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo early in the second half leveled the score by the 55th minute. But it wasn't enough, and the damage was already done.

Sky Sports reporter Lewis Jones highlighted a jaw-dropping stat that should embarrass Slot and his squad: in their last 19 away matches across all competitions, Liverpool have scored just four goals before halftime.

"Liverpool's away-day malaise is becoming less of a blip and more of a pattern that Arne Slot cannot ignore," Jones wrote. "There's a passivity to their first-half approach on the road that feels at odds with the club's identity that was so exciting under Jurgen Klopp."

He added: "A team built on intensity, front-foot football and early statement-making now are drifting through opening periods as if waiting for the game to come to them. Another blank before the break against Manchester United only sharpened the concern. That's now just four goals in their last 19 first halves. A staggering drop-off for a side packed with attacking quality and expectation."

Jones didn't mince words about the root cause: "It's not just misfiring finishing, it's a collective lack of urgency. The tempo is slow, the pressing disjointed and too often Liverpool are reactive rather than proactive. For a club that should be chasing major honours, it's an embarrassing quirk."

For Liverpool fans, this stat is a sobering reminder that the team's away-day struggles are no longer a fluke. It's a challenge Slot must address quickly if the Reds hope to compete on all fronts this season.
