Liverpool's Champions League journey came to a disappointing end at Anfield on Tuesday night, but a familiar voice in the football world believes the future remains bright. Despite a 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, sealing a 4-0 aggregate loss, pundit Tim Sherwood is convinced the Reds showed enough quality to bounce back.

While acknowledging PSG's superior class over the two legs, Sherwood pointed to a dominant 20-minute spell from Arne Slot's side in the second half as a sign of their potential. He was particularly adamant about a controversial overturned penalty call, insisting contact on Alexis Mac Allister warranted a spot-kick and that Liverpool were hard done by the decision.

Looking beyond the immediate disappointment, the former Premier League midfielder offered a bold prediction. "If they play like that, they will 100% qualify for the Champions League," Sherwood stated on Sky Sports, suggesting that the performance level, if maintained, will be more than enough for a top-four Premier League finish.

His analysis pinpointed the first-leg performance in Paris as the true culprit for the exit, questioning the team's lack of attacking intent away from home. For Liverpool fans, it's a painful but familiar lesson in the fine margins of elite European competition.

There's no time for the Reds to dwell, however. The focus must immediately shift to the Premier League run-in, where proving Sherwood right and securing a return to Europe's top table is now the primary objective. The character shown in patches against PSG will need to become a consistent feature for the remainder of the season.
