The New England Patriots welcomed the rookies to Gillette Stadium for rookie minicamp.

The New England Patriots kicked off their rookie minicamp this weekend at Gillette Stadium, giving the newest members of the team their first real chance to shine in front of the coaching staff. With a mix of draft picks, undrafted free agents, and tryout players hitting the field, here are the top eight takeaways from Saturday's session.

First up, quarterback Behren Morton stole the show. As the only QB on the field for the Patriots on Saturday, Morton made the most of every rep, going a perfect 11-for-11 during 11-on-11 drills. He threaded the needle with several tight-window throws, showing impressive composure and quick decision-making—even as everyone is still getting up to speed with the playbook.

There was an early injury scare, however. Edge rusher Quintayvious Hutchins left practice early after getting hurt during 11-on-11 action. He spent significant time in the training shed, with head coach Mike Vrabel even checking in on him. Hutchins eventually walked off the field, helmet in hand, and did not return.

First-round pick Caleb Lomu was on the field and participating, but the team was without its second- and third-round selections. Gabe Jacas and Eli Raridon did not take part—Jacas was spotted on the sideline in his jersey but without a helmet, watching from the sidelines.

Other notable participants included fifth-round cornerback Karon Prunty, sixth-round offensive tackle Dametrious Crownover, linebacker Namdi Obiazor, running back Jam Miller, and Hutchins—all getting valuable reps in their first NFL-style practice.

Among the wide receivers, undrafted free agent Kyle Dixon emerged as Morton's go-to target. With four catches during 11-on-11s, Dixon stood out in a crowded group that includes four undrafted signees and two tryout players. His early chemistry with Morton is something to keep an eye on as camp progresses.

With the pads still off and the playbooks still fresh, it's all about first impressions—and Saturday gave Patriots fans plenty to talk about.
