Imagine a quest spanning 54 years, 48 leagues, and over 2,000 football grounds. That’s the epic journey of Tony Incenzo, the UK’s ultimate groundhopper, who recently completed a sporting odyssey few could even dream of.

It all started when a 17-year-old Tony became the youngest person to visit all 92 Football League grounds back in 1981. But for a true football pilgrim, that was just the beginning. Instead of simply following his beloved QPR, Tony set himself a monumental new goal: to visit every single ground in the entire English non-league system.

This past Easter Monday, that dream finally became reality. As Fulwood Amateurs kicked off against Thornton Cleveleys on a muddy Lancastrian pitch, Tony’s five-decade adventure reached its historic conclusion. The match marked the final entry in a journey through hundreds of clubs in every corner of the country.

“It’s just overwhelming emotion,” Tony said after receiving a guard of honour from both teams. “To finally do it, on a glorious sunny day, with a lovely green pitch, is a great relief.”

His proof? A massive, time-worn scrapbook, its pages lined with stamps and signatures from every single home club he’s visited—a physical testament to an unparalleled football adventure. The non-league system, a sprawling world of 996 clubs across 48 regional divisions, had been fully conquered.

It’s a story that speaks to the heart of football fandom: the love for the game that exists far beyond the bright lights of the big stadiums, in the community pitches and local clubs where passion is truly grassroots.
