Nearly 5,000 players entered the transfer portal, and these teams found the perfect pieces to make them ready to make the Final Four.

With the transfer portal swelling to nearly 5,000 players this offseason, a handful of programs have emerged as legitimate national championship threats. These teams didn't just add talent—they found the perfect pieces to complete their rosters for a deep March run.

Let's start with the team everyone's chasing. Dusty May has already earned the title of "Portal King" after constructing last season's championship-winning roster at Michigan. Now he's done it again, finding the right mix of experience and skill to keep the Wolverines in position to defend their crown. While Michigan remains the team to beat, the path to the 2027 Final Four at Ford Field is looking increasingly crowded.

No program made a louder statement in the portal than Louisville. The Cardinals secured the top available player in Flory Bidunga, a defensive force who changes the entire complexion of games. But Pat Kelsey didn't stop there. He added Alvaro Folgueiras, who became a March hero for Iowa, and brought in proven scorers like Jackson Shelstad—who was lighting it up at Oregon before an injury-shortened season—and Karter Knox, who's ready to bounce back from a meniscus injury at Arkansas. With De'Shayne Montgomery from Dayton and Gabe Dynes from USC rounding out the class, Louisville has the pieces to field one of the most lethal offenses in the country. If they live up to the hype, don't be surprised to see the Cardinals cutting down nets in Detroit.

Then there's Duke. The Blue Devils will always be in the title conversation because, well, they're Duke. But Jon Scheyer has learned the hard way that elite freshmen alone don't win in March. This year, he's built a roster with the veteran scoring punch needed to survive the tournament grind.
