The Oregon Ducks are making a serious push for one of the most explosive defensive prospects in the nation. Five-star edge rusher KJ Green has locked in an official visit to Eugene, and with a decision date set for August 8, the recruiting battle is heating up.

Green, a standout from Stephenson High School in Georgia, has narrowed his list to five powerhouse programs: Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Alabama, and his home-state Georgia Bulldogs. While the list is heavy with SEC talent, the Ducks stand out as the lone West Coast contender—and they have a real shot at landing this elite pass rusher.

After a dominant junior season that saw him rack up 129 tackles, 40 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, and four forced fumbles, Green earned MaxPreps Junior All-American honors and was named Region 5-AAA Defensive Player of the Year. His combination of speed, quick first-step explosion, and relentless pursuit makes him a nightmare for opposing offensive lines.

Green's official visit tour kicks off with a trip to Georgia on Friday, followed by a crucial stop in Eugene on May 29. He'll then visit Texas and South Carolina before wrapping up at Alabama in late June. After that, he'll have a month to reflect on his experiences—though if one visit truly wows him, he could move up his commitment date.

At 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Green has the frame to add more weight at the next level, but his explosive edge-rushing style already draws comparisons to Oregon's own Nasir Wyatt. The Ducks have been building strong momentum with Green, and his recent visit to Eugene left a lasting impression.

Ranked as the No. 8 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class and the No. 2 edge rusher in the nation according to 247 Sports, Green is the kind of game-changing talent that can elevate a defense from good to elite. For Oregon fans, the countdown to August 8 just got a lot more interesting.
