The San Francisco 49ers could upgrade their offense with the No. 27 pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
After a run of edge rushers, receivers and offensive linemen in the picks right before San Francisco's, ESPN's Field Yates mocked Indiana receiver Omar Cooper Jr. to the 49ers to give Brock Purdy another weapon to work with in 2026.
San Francisco needs to add to the receiver room and Cooper would bring a run-after-catch element that fits well with coach Kyle Shanahan's scheme. He broke out in 2025 with 13 receiving touchdowns, showing excellent vision, patience and contact strength.
The most interesting element of this decision is 1) that Cooper Jr. fell and 2) that the team didn't take Texas A&M's KC Concepcion, who actually fell out of the first round in Yates' draft. The 49ers have been connected to Concepcion during the pre-draft process, but getting Cooper Jr. might be better, considering the Hoosiers' fit in the 49ers' offense. Cooper Jr. is also being compared to Deebo Samuel, a player the 49ers know all too well.
The 49ers will have to wait and see who is there for the taking at No. 27, but getting a high-caliber receiver would be a nice addition alongside Mike Evans, Ricky Pearsall and Christian Kirk.
