The San Francisco 49ers are going global once again, and this time, the time zone difference won't be quite as brutal. After already locking in a Week 1 showdown in Australia, the team has just learned they'll be heading to Mexico City for their second international game of the 2026 season.
The NFL officially announced Wednesday that the 49ers will face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11 at Estadio Banorte—the home of Mexico's national soccer team. Kickoff is set for Nov. 22 at 7:20 p.m. Central Time, making it the final international matchup of the 2026 slate. That's a welcome change for fans who had to stay up into the wee hours for those 18-hour-ahead games in Australia.
This marks the 49ers' fourth international game in franchise history, and their first in Mexico since 2005. That trip didn't go so well—San Francisco fell to the Arizona Cardinals 31-14 on Oct. 2 at the very same stadium. But there's plenty of reason for optimism: the 49ers have won both of their previous London games (in 2010 and 2013), and the team's global brand has only grown since then.
The full 2026 NFL schedule drops Thursday night, so we'll soon know exactly how the rest of the season shapes up for San Francisco. For now, 49ers fans can start planning a trip south of the border—or at least setting their DVRs for a prime-time game that won't require a 3 a.m. wake-up call.
