The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded up for the second time on Day 3, moving from pick 196 to 191 in a deal with the New England Patriots.
The Jaguars then used that pick to select Baylor wide receiver Josh Cameron.
Although the Jaguars are positioned well at the top of the wide receiver depth chart with Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, Parker Washington, and Travis Hunter, depth and competition on the back end are still very much a need. As of now, the other wideouts on the roster are Austin Trammell, Tim Jones, and Chandler Brayboy. Jacksonville's pursuit of Jake Bobo tells us that Gladstone isn't done adding here -- although spending a premium pick at wideout isn't required.
Cameron spent five seasons at Baylor and was a big part of the passing game the last two seasons, totaling 177 targets. For his career, he caught 170 of his 261 targets, good for a catch rate of 65%, while averaging 13.1 yards per catch with 19 touchdowns -- all of which occurred over the last two seasons. The bulk of his snaps have come lined up out wide. At 220 pounds, Cameron did grade out well as a run-blocker last season by PFF's metrics.

For more on Cameron's game, here is what NFL.com's Lance Zierlein had to say in his pre-draft report:
"Cameron is built like a big running back and is not shy about using that size, strength and body control to rack up touchdowns in the red zone. He’s smooth in tracking and adjusting to throws. Drops are a rarity. However, he lacks suddenness to beat press and needs plenty of route work to avoid seeing a heavy percentage of contested targets. Proving he can move beyond the relatively simple asks of the Baylor offense will be critical if he is to become more than a backup. Cameron has traits but the development could take some time."
