When Tyson Robinson stepped onto Michigan's campus for the first time this spring, something clicked. By the time he left his second visit, the four-star running back from Brandon, Mississippi, knew exactly where he belonged.

"The first visit opened my eyes," Robinson told Rivals. "I went up there the first weekend and saw a lot. Then I went back the next weekend, and it felt like the place for me."

Robinson, ranked No. 210 in the Rivals Industry Ranking, chose the Wolverines over a powerhouse group of finalists that included Alabama and Tennessee. It's a statement commitment for Michigan, who continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail.

What sealed the deal? One-on-one time with running backs coach Tony Alford, a veteran coach known for developing NFL-caliber talent.

"I had more one-on-one time with Coach Alford on that second visit," Robinson explained. "He was teaching me things I hadn't seen before — things that could change my game. That made a big difference."

Alford's consistency stood out throughout the process. Robinson noted that the relationship dates back to last year's coaching staff, and when the new staff took over, Alford stayed and "really turned it up."

"He is just a great coach who is easy to talk to, but coaches hard and gets the best out of his players," Robinson said. "Coach Alford played a huge role in my commitment."

The fit on the field was equally important. Michigan has a clear plan for Robinson, who sees an opportunity to contribute early alongside fellow recruit Savion Hiter.

"They showed me how I fit and the opportunity I'll have," Robinson shared. "I'll have a chance to play early… that's big. Teaming up with Savion Hiter will be great. They have a plan for us to work together in the office, the room is open for competition and how I fit just made things right."

And then there's the Big House. Robinson admits he didn't know what to expect, but the stadium's massive scale and rich history left a lasting impression. The fan support didn't hurt either.

"The fans — they were hitting me up nonstop. That showed me how much it means there. They have a lot of love up there."

For Michigan, landing a talent like Robinson isn't just a win on the recruiting trail — it's a sign that the Wolverines' culture and vision are resonating with elite prospects from across the country. For fans, it's another reason to be excited about the future of the backfield.
