The recruiting trail is heating up, and the Oregon Ducks are in the thick of the battle for one of the nation's top offensive line prospects. Four-star offensive tackle Jake Hildebrand has officially set his commitment date, and the Ducks are hoping to come out on top.
Hildebrand, a standout from Basha High School in Arizona, will announce his college decision on May 19. The 6-foot-5, 285-pound lineman is choosing between Oregon, Arizona State, Texas A&M, and Utah. Ranked as the No. 92 overall player nationally and the No. 8 offensive tackle in the 2027 class (per Rivals Industry Ranking), Hildebrand is a major get for any program.
Oregon has been actively pursuing offensive line talent in this recruiting cycle, but it hasn't been without its ups and downs. The Ducks lost four-star tackle Drew Fielder to USC earlier this year, but they've bounced back by landing three-star tackle Avery Michael and securing a commitment from four-star guard Gus Corsair. Adding a player of Hildebrand's caliber would be a significant boost to the class.
However, the Ducks may have their work cut out for them. Rivals recruiting expert Brandon Huffman has logged a prediction in favor of Arizona State, suggesting the Sun Devils are the frontrunners to keep the in-state talent home. Hildebrand has been vocal about the importance of NFL development in his recruitment, and Arizona State—led by former Oregon offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham—just produced two first-round draft picks, including offensive tackle Max Iheanachor. Meanwhile, Oregon's offensive line coach A'lique Terry has a strong track record of sending linemen to the next level as well.
The proximity to home also plays a big role for Hildebrand, giving the Sun Devils a natural advantage. Still, the Ducks are known for their ability to recruit nationally, and they'll fight until the very end.
With the commitment date fast approaching, Oregon fans will be watching closely. A win here could reshape the Ducks' offensive line class and set the tone for the rest of the cycle.
