The recruiting trail is heating up, and all eyes are on a major announcement set for Thursday. Four-star interior offensive lineman Gus Corsair is ready to make his college decision, and the Oregon Ducks are trending as a strong favorite to land him.
Corsair, a 6-foot-3, 290-pound center from Hays, Kansas, has narrowed his choices to Oregon, Miami, and Vanderbilt. While the Commodores are considered a dark horse, the battle appears to be a two-team race between the Hurricanes and the Ducks. Earlier in his recruitment, it looked like Corsair might stay close to home, with Kansas State, Oklahoma, and Nebraska all making serious pushes. But Oregon and Miami have surged in recent weeks, leveraging their track records of developing NFL-caliber offensive linemen.
Despite being slightly undersized for a traditional tackle, Corsair's versatility makes him a valuable prospect. His frame and skill set suggest he could thrive at center or slide over to guard, giving whichever program lands him flexibility along the line. According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, Corsair is the No. 313 overall prospect, the No. 21 interior offensive lineman, and the second-ranked player in the state of Kansas.
For Oregon, this commitment would be a significant boost to a 2024 recruiting class that currently sits at No. 7 nationally. The Ducks have built their class primarily on defensive talent, with only one offensive lineman committed so far—three-star tackle Avery Michael. Adding a player of Corsair's caliber would help balance the class and strengthen the trenches. Oregon is also making a strong push for four-star lineman Ismael Camara later in the cycle, so securing Corsair would be a major step forward.
The timing also favors the Ducks. Oregon offensive line coach A'lique Terry was scheduled to visit Corsair on Wednesday, giving the program a chance to make a final impression before the announcement. The fact that Corsair set his commitment date just one day after that visit is a promising sign for Oregon fans.
Whether it's the allure of Autzen Stadium, the pedigree of the offensive line program, or the momentum of a top-10 recruiting class, the Ducks look poised to add another key piece to their future roster. We'll know for sure on Thursday.
