Michigan Football’s newest commitment is speaking out about why he chose the Wolverines. We have that and more in today’s Recruiting Roundup:

Michigan Football's latest commitment is turning heads, and he's not shy about why he chose the Wolverines. Top-247 edge rusher Jayce Brewer, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound four-star from Indianapolis, Indiana, announced his decision over the weekend, picking Michigan over a competitive field that included Indiana, Tennessee, and Purdue. Here's what drove his decision—and what it means for the Wolverines' 2027 recruiting class.

Speaking with On3's Ethan McDowell after his commitment, Brewer explained that Michigan's coaching staff made a powerful impression. "They said that I fit them well," Brewer shared. "I was at the top of their board. They wanted me, so I wanted to be there." That mutual respect was key, as Brewer built strong bonds with several coaches, including defensive tackles coach Larry Black, defensive ends coach Lewis Powell, and defensive coordinator Jay Hill.

What sealed the deal? For Brewer, it was the perfect blend of player development and genuine relationships. "They're all just great people," he said. "First, they're going to develop you. They have a history of development, but they're good people at the same time. It's not like I'm getting one or the other. I'm getting both." That combination of on-field growth and off-field culture is a hallmark of Michigan's program under head coach Sherrone Moore.

Brewer becomes the second edge rusher to commit to Michigan's 2027 class, joining fellow four-star Recarder Kitchen. But the Wolverines might not be done adding pass-rushing talent from the Hoosier State. Three-star Ifeanyi Emedobi, a Fort Wayne native, recently received an offer from Michigan's new coaching staff and is already planning multiple visits to Ann Arbor.

Emedobi's interest has skyrocketed since the offer came in—so much so that he's swapped Notre Dame for Michigan on his official visit schedule. According to On3's McDowell, he'll now take an official visit to Ann Arbor the weekend of June 19 instead of South Bend, with no plans to reschedule the trip to Notre Dame. Before that official visit, Emedobi hopes to make a quick stop in Ann Arbor to check out the strength and conditioning program, emphasizing how important gaining good weight will be for his college transition.

For Michigan fans, these developments signal a strong start to the 2027 recruiting cycle, with the Wolverines locking in elite talent and building momentum on the trail.
