If the Falcons want to further shore up their roster and shoot for contention in 2026, here are four positions to look at.

The Atlanta Falcons have made some smart moves this offseason, but let's be real—their roster isn't a finished product just yet. With 2026 shaping up as an evaluation year, the team still has playoff ambitions if things click. That means shoring up a few key positions before the season kicks off is a must.

After signing their rookie class, the Falcons should have roughly $10 million in cap space left. That's enough to keep a rainy day fund while adding a couple of affordable veterans to plug the remaining holes. Here are four positions the Falcons need to address.

1. Offensive Tackle Depth
Last season was a harsh lesson in depth. The Falcons lost Kaleb McGary and Storm Norton before the season even started, forcing Elijah Wilkinson into a starting role for the entire year. Wilkinson, despite a rocky exit and a few too many penalties, held his own for a third-string tackle. But in 2026, there's no seasoned veteran like him waiting in the wings.

If Taylor goes down, the Falcons would turn to Norton (returning from injury), 2025 seventh-round pick Jack Nelson, journeyman Andrew Steuber, or trade addition Mike Jerrell. Rookie undrafted free agent Riley Mahlman is also in the mix, while seventh-round pick Ethan Onianwa is expected to slide inside to guard. That's a lot of question marks—unproven talent, injury concerns, and holdovers from a previous coaching staff.

Is it likely the Falcons lose both Taylor and Norton for the whole season? No. But it's possible, especially with an aging Jake Matthews. Having a reliable backup plan would be a smart insurance policy.

Veteran options like Joe Noteboom (36 career starts, versatile across the line, solid run blocker with shaky pass protection) or Cornelius Lucas (experienced, but older) could provide the stability this unit needs.
