The NFL offseason just got a little more interesting. Veteran cornerback Kenny Moore has officially been granted his release from the Indianapolis Colts, and at 30 years old, he’s not ready to hang up his cleats just yet.
Moore, a one-time Pro Bowler (2021), has been a steady force in the Colts’ secondary since arriving as an undrafted rookie in 2017. Over eight seasons, he started 111 of 132 games, earning a reputation as one of the league’s most reliable nickelbacks. But after the Colts traded two first-round picks for Sauce Gardner last year, the writing was on the wall. With a new No. 1 corner in town, Moore saw his role shift—and decided he still has plenty to offer elsewhere.
Now a free agent, Moore won’t be short on suitors. Here are four teams that should be first in line to sign him.
1. Tennessee Titans
Moore knows defensive coordinator Gus Bradley well—they spent three seasons together in Indianapolis from 2022 to 2024. A reunion in Tennessee makes sense, especially if Moore is looking for a familiar system where he can step in and contribute immediately.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
After saying goodbye to franchise legend Lavonte David, the Bucs could use some veteran leadership in the locker room. Tampa Bay’s secondary struggled last season, ranking near the bottom of the league in points allowed, passing yards, and passing touchdowns. With few offseason additions to the defensive backfield, Moore would be a smart, experienced upgrade.
3. San Francisco 49ers
If Moore wants to chase a ring, San Francisco is a strong option. The 49ers’ defensive coordinator, Matt Eberflus, was Moore’s DC during his best seasons in Indy—including that 2021 Pro Bowl campaign where he posted career highs with four interceptions and 102 tackles. A reunion with Eberflus could help Moore recapture that elite form.
4. A Contender in Need of Depth
Moore has made it clear he wants to win. Any team with Super Bowl aspirations and a need for a savvy, versatile slot corner should be dialing his agent. Whether it’s a team like the Chiefs, Bills, or Eagles, Moore’s experience and football IQ would be a valuable addition to any contending secondary.
Wherever he lands, one thing is certain: Kenny Moore still has game left in the tank. Stay tuned—this is a signing that could make a big difference for a team looking to make a playoff push.
