'We know we need two wins' - O'Sullivan on URC run-in

Ulster prop Eric O'Sullivan has laid down the challenge for his side as they face a crucial run-in to the United Rugby Championship season: two wins could transform their campaign from disappointment to triumph.

Richie Murphy's men are riding high after reaching the Challenge Cup final against Montpellier, but back-to-back defeats to Leinster and Munster have seen them slide from third to eighth in the URC standings with just two regular-season games remaining. The message from the front row is clear—there's no time to dwell on European glory just yet.

"We know we need two wins," O'Sullivan told BBC Sport NI. "Two wins makes our season look a lot different. Knowing each game matters is really important, and we have to go out and get wins—it will prep us well for the final."

Ulster's path to the play-offs couldn't be tougher. They face the top two sides in the competition: the Stormers, who have racked up 12 wins from 16 URC matches this season, and Glasgow Warriors. O'Sullivan expects no favours from the South African powerhouse. "We're expecting them to come here fully loaded. They have a lot to play for—home advantage would be huge for them. You want to go up against the best teams with their full depth, and hopefully we can get a good result."

The 30-year-old prop believes the intensity of these league matches is actually a blessing in disguise, keeping the squad's focus sharp ahead of the European final. "The fact the two games matter is a huge part of it. If you can compete with the two top teams in the league, you can compete with anyone. These are two important games coming up before the final."

With the feel-good factor building around the club after their European run, O'Sullivan is banking on confidence to carry them through. "I'm a confidence player, and when things are going well, it's easy to snowball from that. I'm sure there are guys in the squad that feel the same. You have league leaders coming to town, you're going into another big physical match, so you have to be switched on and ready to go. Going into the game, it's good to have the confidence from the European win, but you have to park that."

For Ulster, the message is simple: two wins, and everything changes. The stage is set for a thrilling finish to the URC regular season.
