In the world of high school football, few players can make defenders miss quite like Izayveon Moore. The Lawrence North senior, known for his elusive running style that leaves opponents grasping at air, has finally made his college decision official.

Moore announced his commitment to Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday, choosing the RedHawks from a competitive pool of Mid-American Conference offers that included Eastern Michigan, Ohio, and Toledo. For the 5-8, 180-pound dynamo, it came down to one simple factor: feeling wanted.

"They brought me up for a visit and I was there all day and had a meeting with most of the offensive staff," Moore explained. "I felt like the coaches there really wanted me the most, so I thought I should go ahead and make a decision."

It's easy to see why Miami pursued him so aggressively. Moore is among the most decorated players in Indiana's 2027 class, coming off a junior season where he rushed for 1,587 yards and 30 touchdowns. That marked his third consecutive 1,000-yard campaign, bringing his career totals to a staggering 4,083 rushing yards and 61 touchdowns on the ground, plus 376 receiving yards and five more scores through the air.

The RedHawks have a strong track record of recruiting Indiana talent under head coach Chuck Martin, now in his 12th season. Miami's roster already features several familiar faces for Moore, including former Lawrence North teammates Jerome Smith and Anthony Ludington. The program also recently landed another in-state standout, with Lawrence Central defensive back Errol Kerns III committing last week.

"The coaches really feel like family," Moore said. "They take care of their players, and I really feel like I fit there."

While Moore had hoped for a few more offers this spring, he understands the changing landscape of college football recruiting. The transfer portal has shifted priorities, particularly at the Power Four level, making high school recruiting a different game than it used to be.

"There's not much I can do about that," he acknowledged.

But for Moore, finding the right fit was always the priority. And in Miami, he's found a program that matches his explosive playmaking ability with a genuine belief in his potential. For a player who makes the unpredictable look effortless, that commitment feels like the most natural move of all.
