Watford head coach Ed Still admits the end of the season is 'needed' by his team after they lose 4-0 at home to champions Coventry in their final game.

Watford head coach Ed Still didn't mince words after his team's season-ending 4-0 home defeat to champions Coventry, admitting that the final whistle couldn't come soon enough for his struggling squad. The loss at Vicarage Road extended the Hornets' losing streak to five matches, casting further doubt on the Belgian manager's future at the helm.

"The end of the season is needed," Still told BBC Three Counties Radio, his frustration palpable. "Our job is to put a team together, create a balance, and make sure you're creating more—and better—opportunities than the opponent, while not giving away much at the back." He pointed to a critical turning point in the match: "We had more than enough chances to come level at 1-1, and we don't do it. The phase we've been in for the last few weeks, we know oppositions are going to put balls in the top corner from 30 yards—that's when you feel just how fragile the whole team is at the moment."

The defeat highlighted deeper issues for Watford, particularly in defense. Still lamented his young backline's lack of Championship experience and focus: "For the third goal, we were eight against four, or six against three—a massive overload. You can't be as soft as that in the box, especially against teams on such a high. You'll get punished for it."

Looking ahead, Still sees the off-season as a crucial reset button. "There is plenty of time to reset, reshape, and start again afresh from the summer," he said, signaling a need for tactical and mental recalibration. For fans and followers of the Hornets, the message is clear: this season's struggles are a lesson, and the break is an opportunity to rebuild—both on the pitch and in the stands, where supporters will hope to see a more resilient squad come fall.
