As Andy Robertson prepares to leave Anfield this summer, a fellow Scot has paid tribute to the departing Liverpool legend. Former Reds midfielder Charlie Adam has declared that Robertson remains the club's best left-back, even as his storied nine-year tenure comes to a close.
Robertson's impending departure marks the end of an era defined by relentless energy and trophy-laden success. The Scotland captain, who is in advanced talks with Tottenham, leaves having won every major honor, including the 2019 Champions League and two Premier League titles—a testament to his integral role in one of Liverpool's greatest modern sides.
Despite being limited to just seven league starts this season following the arrival of Milos Kerkez, Adam believes Robertson's quality and legacy are undimmed. "I think you can put him up there as a legend of the football club," Adam stated. "He's won every major honour, he's been there nine years, his performances over the years have been incredible. And for me, I still think he's the best left-back in the football club."
Adam also highlighted Robertson's remarkable journey, from being released by Celtic as a youth to becoming a cornerstone of Liverpool's defense. "It's a special career that he's had," Adam reflected. "He's a really humble guy and understands where he's come from, and he deserves everything he gets."
Looking ahead, Adam is confident the 30-year-old still has plenty to offer at the highest level. "If you're any other club in the Premier League, maybe apart from two or three, you'd still be looking to sign Andy Robertson as one of the top left-backs in the league," he said, suggesting a move to a club like Tottenham could provide a fresh challenge for the veteran defender to prove his enduring class.
