The Scottish Premiership's relegation battle is heating up, and former Kilmarnock striker Cillian Sheridan believes Saturday's clash at Rugby Park could be a major turning point. Sheridan warns that a Kilmarnock victory would "drag Dundee really into it," pulling Neil McCann's side back into the fight for the dreaded play-off spot.
Dundee had shown signs of life before the international break, securing back-to-back wins for the first time this season. However, Kilmarnock's recent 3-0 defeat to Hibernian has kept them anchored in 11th place, setting the stage for a tense showdown. Sheridan now predicts a gripping four-horse race for survival, making every point in the post-split fixtures critical.
"If Kilmarnock can go and win, and get three points, it drags Dundee really into it," Sheridan told the BBC Scottish Football Podcast. "I feel like Dundee are well and truly in a fight with all those teams... it sets up a great fixture." He added that the drama in the bottom six, often overshadowed by the title race, is shaping up to be must-watch drama.
Adding to the pre-match analysis, Hibernian Women's coach Joelle Murray pointed to Kilmarnock's defensive resilience as a potential key factor. "They're making Rugby Park a fortress now," she noted. "At the back end of the pitch they're not conceding as much." She acknowledged, however, that Dundee are finding form under Steven Presley at the perfect time, promising a fiercely contested match where three points for Killie would put them right on the heels of the teams above.
