Virat Kohli might have taken a subtle dig at BCCI selector Ajit Agarkar and India head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Virat Kohli has sent a clear message to his doubters, firing back at those who have questioned his dedication to Indian cricket. In a recent interview with RCB media, the batting icon didn't hold back, delivering a pointed response that many believe was aimed at BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir.

"Look, if you go to a workplace and people say they believe in your abilities and then a week later they start questioning the way you operate… why?" Kohli said, visibly frustrated. "Either tell me on day one that I'm not good enough or if you truly believe in me then just be quiet."

The 37-year-old's comments come after a turbulent period in his international career. Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket last year, following his earlier exit from T20Is. While he continues to shine in ODI cricket—showcasing sublime form against Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa—questions about his long-term future have persisted.

The speculation intensified when Agarkar publicly raised doubts about whether Kohli and Rohit Sharma would be available for selection at the 2027 ODI World Cup. Kohli, however, made it clear that he's tired of repeatedly defending his intentions.

"If you start operating up and down because of results, you can never have a consistent stance," Kohli added. "And I am not someone who behaves like that. When I come to play, I know what I can deliver in terms of effort. Performance, no one can guarantee."

For fans and followers of Indian cricket, this marks yet another chapter in Kohli's storied career—a player who has always worn his heart on his sleeve, both on and off the field. Whether this response settles the debate remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: Virat Kohli isn't backing down.
