Millwall manager Alex Neil took a pragmatic view after his side battled to a hard-fought 0-0 Championship draw away at West Bromwich Albion. Speaking to BBC Radio London, Neil dissected a match of two distinct halves for the Lions.
“I thought first half we had the better of the game,” Neil stated. “In terms of clear-cut chances, we should score at least one. Josh Coburn’s chance is the best of the game.”
The second half, however, presented a different challenge as Millwall found it difficult to maintain their attacking threat. “We struggled to keep the ball at the top end of the pitch the last 20 or 30 minutes of the game and couldn’t muster enough opportunities to win it,” Neil explained. “I thought if we were going to win it, it would be in the first half if we got the first goal.”
Ultimately, with a winning goal elusive, Neil emphasized the importance of defensive solidity and securing a point on the road—a classic Championship mindset. He summed up his post-match message to the team with a straightforward adage: “Like I said to the lads afterwards, if you can’t win it, just make sure you don’t lose it.”
