In a fiery moment that has since gone viral, Mumbai Indians pacer Shardul Thakur opened up about his long-standing grudge against Punjab Kings—and it's pure cricketing drama. After MI crushed PBKS's playoff hopes with a six-wicket win in Dharamsala on Thursday, Shardul didn't hold back when asked about his stellar record against the franchise.

"I was kept out and sent home. It's rage!" Shardul said in a video shared by Mumbai Indians on social media. The comment was a clear nod to his turbulent time with Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) back in 2014-2016. Despite being bought at auction, Shardul played just one match for them in three seasons—and was shockingly released mid-tournament in 2016, even after he'd just topped Mumbai's wicket charts in their Ranji Trophy-winning campaign.

Fast forward to Thursday, and Shardul channeled that frustration into a match-winning spell. He finished with impressive figures of 4 for 39, including a key double-wicket burst that dismissed opener Prabhsimran Singh (57) and skipper Shreyas Iyer, derailing Punjab's strong start. The Kings had posted 200 for 8 after being put in to bat, but Shardul's fiery bowling—alongside support from Deepak Chahar (2/36), Corbin Bosch (1/42), and Raj Bawa (1/11)—kept MI in the hunt.

In reply, Tilak Varma was the hero for Mumbai, smashing an unbeaten 75 off just 33 balls. Will Jacks chipped in with a quick 25* off 10 as MI chased down the 201-run target with one ball to spare, reaching 205 for 4 in 19.5 overs. Azmatullah Omarzai took 2 for 36 for Punjab, but it wasn't enough to stop the slide—their fifth straight loss leaving their playoff chances hanging by a thread.

For Shardul, this performance was more than just another win. It was a statement—proof that sometimes, the best revenge is a spell of devastating fast bowling.
