'I'd be the most hated player in Kolkata if...': Cameron Green after helping Finn Allen secure maiden IPL 2026 century for KKR

A century from New Zealand opener Finn Allen at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday night handed Kolkata Knight Riders their fourth victory in a row to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Finn Allen smashed his maiden IPL century in style, guiding the Kolkata Knight Riders to a dominant eight-wicket victory over the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday night. The New Zealand opener's unbeaten knock not only secured KKR's fourth straight win but also kept their playoff dreams firmly alive.

Chasing a modest 142 for eight, KKR's batters made light work of the target. Allen, who has often been criticized for throwing away promising starts this season, showed remarkable maturity. Instead of his usual aggressive approach, he paced his innings perfectly—scoring just 20 runs off 16 balls in the powerplay. But when the wrist-spinners came on, Allen flipped the switch, smashing the next 80 runs off just 30 deliveries, including towering sixes off Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam.

Allen found an able partner in Cameron Green, who contributed to a crucial 116-run stand for the third wicket. With just three runs needed and Allen stuck on 94, Green cleverly took a single off the first ball to hand the strike back to his teammate. Allen then cleared the boundary to bring up his century, prompting a light-hearted reaction from Green.

"I'd be the most hated player in Kolkata if I had taken that single and left him stranded," Green joked after the match. "All Finn said was 'see you next over,' and I just played second fiddle. Did the math—29 runs needed, and I knew he was the man for the job."

The victory keeps KKR's playoff hopes alive, while Delhi Capitals slump to their seventh defeat, leaving their season hanging by a thread. For KKR fans, Allen's transformation from a reckless dasher to a composed match-winner is exactly the kind of form they'll need heading into the business end of the tournament.
