Manchester City manager Andree Jeglertz always believed this season would be special. In his debut campaign at the helm, the Swedish tactician guided the club to their first Women's Super League title in a decade, snapping Chelsea's six-year stranglehold on the trophy. And he says the secret wasn't just talent—it was a potent mix of ambition, quality, and hunger.
"I had a feeling from the beginning that it was possible," Jeglertz told BBC Radio 5 Live shortly after City were confirmed champions. The title was sealed on Wednesday night when Arsenal could only manage a 1-1 draw at Brighton, leaving the third-placed side unable to catch City's 52-point tally with just one game remaining. "It's been a horrible experience to watch another team play, knowing you can't do anything—that was the worst 90 minutes of the season," he joked.
City have sat atop the WSL table since November 9, and their coronation comes with a six-point cushion over second-placed Chelsea and a ten-point gap to Arsenal. It's a remarkable turnaround for a squad that, according to Jeglertz, lacked championship experience. "Only two players in the squad have won the league before—Laura Coombs and Vivianne Miedema," he noted. "That means something, because it's about believing you can win more games."
At 54, Jeglertz becomes just the second manager in WSL history to win the title in his debut season, following Chelsea's Sonia Bompastor in 2025. The former Denmark boss joined City after Euro 2025 and quickly instilled a winning mentality. "I don't know if 'expect' is the right word, but I knew the ambition from the club, what they put into the women's programme, the quality of players, and also the hunger to win," he explained. "We got pretty good, quite early. The more you believe in it, everything is possible with a group like this."
For a team that hadn't tasted league glory since 2016, this title is more than a trophy—it's a statement. And for fans looking to celebrate the champions in style, the right gear makes all the difference. Whether you're repping City blue on matchday or training like a champion, quality apparel fuels that same ambition, quality, and hunger on and off the pitch.
